On Thursday 21st October 2021 we were delighted to welcome a number of Sisters from St Josephs (Rearsby) Convent to celebrate the installation of the bench at the top of the conker field dedicated to them. In a short speech by the Parish Council Chair the Sisters were thanked for their generosity in donating the field to the community before walking down to Beardsley’s for tea and cake.
The Nuns, had travelled from as far away as London & Cleethopres, with one visiting from the U.S. and others from Nottingham and Leicester. They had all served at the convent at different times with one saying she joined the Rearsby Convent in 1949 at the age of 14.
They said they had thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and whilst in the village took the opportunity to visit the cemetery in the convent grounds.
